The client
The OV-fiets (public transport bike) is part of the NS (Dutch Railways) and facilitates the traveler’s last mile. Each day, the bikes are used by more than half a million people.
The challenge
The digital systems couldn’t keep up with OV-fiets’ exponential growth over the past few years. So, NS Stations teamed up with INFO to create a robust, future-proof, and scalable platform.
The solution
First, we conducted user research. Then, together with NS, we used service design methods to optimise the bike-rental process, to make it more transparent, and to identify pain points. We then devised the digital product strategy and roadmap, which culminated in FRAME, a comprehensive bike-management app for efficient bicycle management.
We also introduced innovations like real-time bike tracking via FRAME and rapid bike scanning with the ancillary tool SCANIT. Moreover, a new smart lock, enabled by the LOCKIT app, enhances security and convenience by replacing traditional keys (which often get lost).
Together, these solutions guarantee scalability and future-proofness, ensuring OV-fiets’s seamless growth and improved user experiences.
